PROGRAM
Each design
should identify appropriate amenities for the park, illustrate proper land
use for the entire 47 acre site, and provide a strategy for how the park is
to be developed over time. The design should be aimed at having a positive
social impact on the surrounding community.
The park designs
will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Meets program requirements and objectives of the ideas competition, Respectful
to the design of the new Recreation Center, Creates a positive social impact
on the community and local neighborhoods, Demonstrates an appropriate use of
the site, Provides a responsible environmental and universal design approach,
Appropriately accommodates the needs of multiple users (e.g. tourists, families,
students, groups, individuals and other potential patrons), Addresses safety
associated with 24/7 usage, Addresses the cost effectiveness and benefits of
the design, and Illustrates innovation in design.

- Pavilion / Amphitheater

Transportation CRITERIA
Designs should illustrate connections to Public Transit, addressing both vehicular and pedestrian circulation, and should anticipate circulation paths to nearby neighborhood destinations (Dobie Middle School, Churches, Retail, etc.).
Life Cycle CRITERIA
Designs should
be presented in three-phases of development, showing which amenities are to
be provided first, amenities to be provided in 5 years, and long range goals
for additional amenities.
Designs are also encouraged to provide a strategy for involving the community
in the construction and continued development of the park.
